Marine Ecological Protection
Description:
Marine ecological protection ensures the conservation of ecosystems critical to maintaining biodiversity, regulating climate, and supporting fisheries. These ecosystems include coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass meadows, and marine wetlands.
CAMC’s Role:
- Conducts continuous biodiversity monitoring and habitat assessment.
- Supports restoration projects for degraded coral reefs and mangrove belts.
- Promotes pollution control initiatives—reducing plastic waste and runoff from agriculture and industry.
- Collaborates with international partners for climate adaptation programs in marine zones.
Goals:
Providing technical consultation for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
Establishment of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) across vulnerable ecosystems in Egypt.
Development of eco-based solutions for shoreline protection.
Raising public awareness through community programs and citizen science.
